This Friday we will be presenting three wines that embody the best of two distant regions connected by the quality and excellence of their wines: Washington State and Northern Spain. Our red for the evening will be a 2013 Juan Gil "Bluegray" from the famed Spanish Priorat region, just west of Barcelona. This is one of those lush red wines that "once you taste you never forget". We will also open bottles of two distinct whites for you to compare and contrast: the first is a 2013 "Pacific Rim" Gewürztraminer from Washington State's Yakima Valley. Medium-dry with flavors of passion fruit and melon, this wine is a great example of the success of this popular European white varietal in the Pacific Northwest. Our second white is a "Dominios de Castilla" Verdejo (Rueda), an everyday value white similar in style to Pinot Gris, that features lemon and other citrus flavors. This easy-going wine pairs well with tapas, seafood, pork and salads - just a delicious all around classic!
