We are bringing summer to the next level this Friday as we present for tasting two outstanding, warm weather wines from Provence (South of France) and Penedés (right above Barcelona, Spain) These two iconic wine regions produce some of the best wines in the world, including our selections for this tasting:
Our red is "Jean Leon 3055", a seductive, aromatic, medium-bodied Merlot-Petit Verdot blend. This vwinery belonged to Jean Leon, a celebrated Spanish Chef who came to the U.S. as a stowaway and ended up partnering with James Dean in the 50s to open the world-famous "La Scala" restaurant in Beverly Hills. The place quickly became the "hang out of the stars" in Holywood and remained so for years to come. In the 60s Jean returned to Spain and created a world-class winery in his native Cataluña.
Instead of our traditional white, this week we have selected "Commanderie de Bargemone" , a classic, aromatic, dry French Rose that ranks among the best rose wines from Provence, in Southern France. The Bargemone is perfect for this time of the year and definitely a "must sample" in the Rose Wines section of the store.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday!
