Tastings and Events Calendar

"Friday Wine Therapy". a complimentary tasting!

Wine tastings can be "therapeutic" and I am going to prove it tomorrow with a lineup that'll give your life a "renewed sense of purpose"...;) The selection is awesome and spans from a refreshing California sparkling to a delicious South American red. Our very own Rob J will be on the keyboard providing musical entertainment.

I'll start with an appropriately named "WKND" sparkling Chenin Blanc made with grapes sourced from the beautiful Clarksburg, California AVA. Crated Champagne-style, the WKND is a fresh, fruity yet dry, sparkler that displays aromas of green apple, rose and flavors of apricot and candied fruit. WKND is a project dedicated to crafting exceptional American sparkling wines in California.

Next I'll pour a delicious white from Argentina made with the country's popular "Torrontes" grape.  "Killka" is smooth and aromatic, with moderate acidity and distinctive flavors of peach and lemon zest. As a reference, I like to describe this wine as a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio for its sweetness on the nose and dryness on the palate. Pairs well with spicy dishes, Asian, fish and shellfish.

Our first red is one I’ve been waiting for since early September: Porter and Plot Grenache Noir.  This “revival” red is both, fruit-forward and aromatic with crisp acidity, bringing out the best in California Grenache. Instead of herbal aromas and higher acidity found in many European Grenache wines, this American version smells more like licorice and flowers and has a smoother flavor. I am excited to have this wine in the lineup for you to taste!

Our second red is also an exceptional wine: the 2014 single vineyard Lamadrid Bonarda. This awesome wine embodies all the qualities that make Bonarda the second most widely planted red grape in Argentina after Malbec and a local favorite. Full-bodied with flavors of plum and blackberry, the Lamadrid has a solid, deep texture that bonds it to perfection with steak, ribs, roasts and other fall and winter dishes.

See you tomorrow!

Cheers,

Luis
