Thanksgiving is just around the corner so tomorrow we'll be tasting wines to pair with a meal known for delicious food, legendary arguments, reconciliations and pure gluttony. With all that in mind, I've put together a lineup that is guaranteed to keep the festivities flowing from beginning to end, and you are invited to check it out! Rob J will be on the keyboard providing musical entertainment.
I’ll start with a 2014 “Montinori” organic Gewurztraminer from Oregon’s famed Willamette valley. This is a floral, fruity white produced in a traditional dry style. It shows aromas of rose water, hints of lime and tropical fruit notes. The Montinore is very food friendly and pairs well with some of the saltier thanksgiving dishes.
Next is a 2015 “Objet D’Art”, a delicious Carneros Chardonnay that will please everyone around the table. This versatile chard is bright, fresh and displays flavors of nectarine, grapefruit and notes of citrus. The Objet D’Art is aged in stainless steel resulting is a crisp, lean style not found in the oaky, buttery traditional California Chardonnays – outstanding!
Our first red is a favorite holiday wine from France’s Chinon wine region (Loire Valley). The 2013 “Domaine Gouran”, is a medium-bodied, dry red that shows notes of blackberry, cassis, figs and eucalyptus, all perfectly balanced to make it the ideal paring for your thanksgiving turkey.
Last but not least is a 2014 “Pacificana”, a medium-bodied Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. This Cab is young, fruity, playful and juicy. The Pacificana is an easy-drinking, friendly kind of Cab - enjoy it with just about anything on your thanksgiving table.
See you all tomorrow!
P.S. I will pour some surprise thanksgiving wines not listed here for all to enjoy!
