Our complimentary "Black Friday" tasting is a pleasant, fun and relaxed wine event that's in full contrast with the shopping madness, crowds, pushing and shoving this day is known for and you are invited! Rob J will be on the keyboard filling the house with his wonderful music as we taste these four supperb wines:
We'll start with a new sparkling that will definitely pique your curiosity: Gougenheim Malbec rose. While we think of Malbec as a robust Argentinian red, they also make a crisp, fruity, medium bodied sparkling rose that has "celebration" written all over. This easy-going sparkler is perfect as a gift or to enjoys with your favorite holiday dishes.
Next, I'll pour samples of La Cala Vermentino, a dry, crisp white from Italy's mediterranean Island of Sardinia. This wine has a creamy palate and displays flavors of ripe apricot, green apple, along with mineral notes a slightly salty finish and refreshing acidity. Enjoy it on its own, with fish, poultry and lighter cheeses.
My first red comes from the Penedes wine region of Spain and is a blend of Merlot and Petit Verdot. The Jean Leon 3055 offers and a medium-bodied, balanced palate with pronounced notes of red fruit and spices. A long, lingering finish and soft tannins that make it versatile enough to be paired with salty fish (cod, salmon) as well as meat and a variety of tapas.
Last but not least is a superb Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: Twenty Rows. This delicious red is full of dark cherry and currant flavors along with notes of cedar, coffee and vanilla bean. One of the greatest values coming out of Napa - impressive!
