This is the first of five special wine tastings planned to celebrate the holiday season and you are invited to enjoy every single one of them. Tomorrow’s lineup features four outstanding wines specially selected to set the stage for a fun and festive weekend. Van and Matt will be filling the house with their wonderful music.
I’ll start pouring samples of a “Lusvardi Sparkling Rose”, a tasty Italian sparkler that’s perfect for your holiday parties. The Lusvardi offers notes of green apple, berries, medium acidity and a bright finish. It comes in a beautiful bottle that makes it a great Christmas gift.
Next I’ll open bottles of my favorite Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc: the 2014 “Provenance”. This white has notes of tropical fruit, lemon-lime and a mineral expression, all wrapped in a silky, smooth texture that you’ll fall in love with. Great value for a fine Napa Sauvignon Blanc!
My third pour is a 2011 “Gomez Cruzado” Rioja” from one of the most iconic winemakers in Spain. Produced, bottled and aged in Gomez Cruzado’s century-old cellars, this Rioja is fruity, spicy, smooth and easy to drink. Enjoy it with tapas, Mediterranean cuisine, salty cheeses or on its own. Highly recommended!
My fourth wine is a 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi valley, California that will dazzle your palate. “The Epicenter Mettler” displays a medley of sweet cherry, dark chocolate and ripe berries enhanced by notes of tobacco, spice and sweet oak. This rich and flavorful wine pairs with dishes ranging from hearty stews to many of your grilled favorites.
See you all on Friday!
