We are celebrating Bastille Day (French Independence day) this Friday and you are invited to taste and enjoy the outstanding lineup of French wines we have put together to mark the occasion. Our very own Rob J will be in the house providing musical entertainment.
We'll start in Province, one of France's summer playgrounds and home of some of the world's best Rose wines. Our selection is a Hecht & Bannier, a fresh, lively dry rose with flavors of cherry, white peach and watermelon. H & B is the perfect companion for everything from Millennium Park concerts to pool parties.
Next we move to the iconic Burgundy region in east-central France to bring you a Joseph Drouhin Maçon Villages. This classic french Chardonnay is dry, juicy and round with a clean, crisp finish that makes it extremely versatile to drink with a variety of cuisines. A great wine to enjoy, and to share - staff favorite!
Our first red red takes us to the Beaujolais Morgon wine region, which borders Burgundy to the south. We'll be pouring a Henry Fessi Crus du Beaujolais, a lighter wine with a fleshy palate of apricot, ripe cherry and plum. The Fessi is made with the Gamay grape, which yields an easy-going, fruity wine that pairs with casseroles, chicken, hard cheeses and fruit. Perfect summer red!
Our second red, "Le Fervent", comes from the Southern Rhône Valley, one of France's most prolific wine regions. This is a delicious, balanced Syrah with flavors of ripe fruit and notes of cocoa and black tea. Enjoy this dry, medium-bodied red with grilled chicken, burgers, pasta, pizza and veggies. Great value for an outstanding wine!
