For this tasting we've put together a lineup that showcases the versatility and endless possibilities Italian summer wines offer. Whether you want to add some Italian flair to your next party or just sip on some great, easy- going, fun-inducing wines, this tasting selection has it all!
We'll start with a Pio Maccario Lavignone rose from iconic Piedmont in northern Italy. This is a thirst-quenching, smooth and vibrant pink made with the Barbera grape - which makes it robust enough for BBQ, spicy shrimp, Asian and Indian cuisine. Perfect hot weather wine!
Next we'll pour a Ca Adua Gavi, a crisp, dry, light white with highlights of peach, citrus, and melon - a summer favorite in Italy and beyond. This Gavi is one of those refreshing, versatile white wines that are perfect for just about any occasion at this time of the year. Cortese is the grape that drives the enjoyable flavor and texture of this wine. Pairs well with fish, chicken, pasta and fruit.
We'll also be popping open bottles of a Lusvardi Brut, a dry and fruity sparkling red from a smaller producer in the Emilia Romagna region. This wine has aromas of cherry and strawberry with deep, fresh floral flavors and is an excellent option for those looking for a good summer red sparkler to enjoy with food and friends. Perfect with burgers, brats and finger foods.
Our last wine is Barone Ricasoli, a medium-bodied, bright red Chianti that bonds with most Italian dishes and anything off the grill. With notes of berries, sweet tobacco and soft tannins, this easy drinking red embodies the tradition and dedication to winemaking the Chianti region is known and admired for - you'll love this one!
See you all on Friday!
