The wines in this lineup have been specially selected to "uncork" the round of non-stop events that'll bring thousands to our neighborhood this weekend for Halsted Market Days, the largest outdoor event in the Midwest! Rob J will provide musical entertainment.
My first pour will be "Mascaró Brut Rosé Rubor Aurorae", a Spanish Cava I purchased just in time for the festivities. This delicious summer sparkler is dry, fresh and fruity with aromas of cherry and strawberry, and a subtle herbal background. The Mascaró is a pure expression of the Spanish Grenache grape - prefect for any celebration!
Next I'll open bottles of our new Pinot Gris: Boomtown. This dry white comes to us from Dusted Valley Wines located in Washington State's Walla Walla wine region. Food-friendly, crisp and refreshing, the Boomtown offers notes of grape skin and pink apple and is one of those "go-to" whites that's ready to please 24/7!
Our first red is a Gaba do Xil Mencia, from the iconic Spanish Telmo Rodriguez Wine Company. This Valdeorras wine, often referred to as the "Spanish Beaujolais", is a lighter, easy drinking red with an earthy, smoky taste and red fruit notes. Ideal to sip and lounge with friends and family out in the patio. Very nice, food friendly summer red!!
I'll close with a Killka Collection Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. This wine is THE ONE to have with your steaks, burgers, chops and almost anything off the grill. Velvety, fruity and spicy, the Killka is a staff favorite that never disappoints.
See you on Friday!
