Labor day might be right around the corner but at Stellar we're keeping the summer in full swing with another great wine tasting lineup for you to sip. Van Isaacson will be on the keyboard providing musical entertainment.
I'll kick it off with a wine made with one of Italy's favorite white-white grapes: Villa Matilde Falanghina. New in our inventory, this unoaked white is fruity and floral with notes of pineapple, bananas and yellow peach. Pairs beautifully with grilled or fried fish, Caprese or Caesar-type salads, pasta served with an oil base and poultry dishes.
Next I'll pour "The Arsonist", a WE 89-point rated Chardonnay from Central Valley, California that characterizes the dedication to fine winemaking the region Is known for. This is a full-bodied, oaky Chard with aromas of toasted bread and poached pears, and a lush, vibrant finish. I am excited to have a new vintage of this great wine back in the shop - can't wait for you to taste it!
Our first red is a Sicilian Nero d' Avola by Villa Griffo, a fruity, medium/full red with a deep ruby color and hints of red berries and spice. This Nero is an easy-going, approachable Italian red that's a perfect match with zesty pastas with meat sauce, pepperoni and sausage pizza, hard cheeses and cold cuts.
Last but not least is one of my favorite California reds in the store: Manteo, a Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc blend that combines the best of these grapes in one awesome bottle. The Manteo is full-bodied with flavors of dried red fruit, cedar and tobacco. Enjoy it with meat and other robust dishes from just about any cuisine.
See you all on Friday!
