This tasting is dedicated to all the athletes competing in the Rio Olympics for the next two weeks. Just like wine, sports bring joy, fun and togetherness to our lives, so this Friday we are celebrating the start of these games with a lineup that will definitely win you a gold medal with every sip!
Rob J will be on the keyboard providing musical entertainment.
The first wine is a M. De Mulonnière Chenin Blanc from France's iconic Loire valley. This dry, fruity white has aromas of almond, acacia, fresh grape and honey; I recommend it with fish (cooked and raw), asian-inspired dishes and fruit desserts.
Next I'll be pouring a very unique Spanish white: Catalonia's 2014 Ca N'Estruc blanc. New to Stellar - and to me, this unusual blend of Xarel-lo (commonly found in Cava), Macabeu, Grenache and Muscat is dry and refreshing and has aromas of praline, peach cobbler and citrus. Pairs well with BBQ chicken, pad thai, fajitas and grilled fish. NEW!
Out third wine is also new to our inventory: Paré D'Abruzzo, a beautifully presented Italian Pecorino that's a perfect fit for just about any activity in your busy summer calendar. The Paré is intense and refined, with hints of tropical fruit, citrus and jasmine, and pairs well with pasta dishes, shellfish, grilled chicken and veggies. You'll love this easy-drinking Italian gem.
Our red is Vigilance, an 87 point, Wine Enthusiast-rated California Cabernet Sauvignon that embodies some of the best features of American winemaking. The Vigilance offers cherry and strawberry flavors, spicy vanilla and nutmeg aromas, and a softer texture that makes it ideal for summer dining "al fresco". Great value for an outstanding, delicious red!
