This "Wine Friday" we are celebrating what summer is all about: sunshine, good times and WINE! Our lineup for this tasting includes four wines that will become your "instant favorites" for the rest of the season and beyond. Rob J will be providing live musical entertainment.
I'll start this tasting with an awesome, Blaufrankish-based Austrian sparkling rose: Tinhof. This delicious bubbly has aromas of fresh strawberries and berries balanced with a refreshing, creamy finish. A summer-perfect sparkling perfect to sip outside with friends on a war summer day...or night!
Next we move to another summer favorite: Marchese di Barolo Gavi Le Lune, a classic dry Italian white named after the Piedmont commune of Gavi, where it's produced. Made with the Cortese grape, this white is light with notes of golden apples and almonds, and scents of chamomile flowers. Great with fish, light pasta, salads and soft cheeses.
My first red is a 2011 Château l’Argenteyre, an outstanding wine from Bordeaux’s iconic Medoc region (Left Bank). Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and 5% Carmenere make up this classic French blend. The wine is medium bodied with chalky tannins, moderate acidity and flavors of blackberry and boysenberry. Superb!
Last but not least is a Mettler Family Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s Lodi Valley. This full-bodied, deeply colored, oaky red tastes like blackberry jam laced with cloves and black pepper - just delicious! Perfect with steak, burgers and anything off the grill.
See you all on Friday!
